Baton Rouge Roux Runners Chest Logo
Back in the early 90s, when Baton Rouge was all about Mardi Gras beads, brass bands, and backyard crawfish boils, a ragtag group of ballplayers discovered their secret weapon: roux power. They’d show up to the diamond after slurping down gumbo and suddenly sprint like their cleats were on fire. Legend has it, one night in 1993, a boiling pot of roux literally jumped off the stove and outran the entire squad in a street race down Nicholson Drive. The boys knew they had their mascot, and thus, the Roux Runners were born.
On the field, the Roux Runners are chaos incarnate. Their pot mascot storms the baseline clutching a baseball, steam billowing like swamp fog, and every hit feels like a gumbo pot exploding. Opponents don’t just lose games — they lose their appetite. And while the Roux Runners have never been recognized by any “official” league, down in Baton Rouge, they’re treated like kings — a team fueled by spice, swagger, and just a little bit of swamp magic.
